How can I study for the JLPT in ten minutes a day?
Use a ten-minute session to review one weak area, answer a few questions, and explain a mistake. Pocket JLPT provides guided vocabulary and grammar sessions for this routine. Ten minutes can support a habit, but whether that’s enough preparation depends on your starting point, target level, and exam date.
Try this ten-minute session
- Minutes 0–2: revisit a word or grammar distinction you missed previously.
- Minutes 2–7: work through questions at your level. Read the whole sentence before choosing. Stop when the time is up; finishing every question is not the goal.
- Minutes 7–10: read the explanation for a mistake. Say why the correct choice fits and why your choice doesn’t. Revisit it in a later session.
Choose a level and start
Use your current target level. If the sentences are mostly unreadable, return to learning the foundations before trying to increase your quiz score. If you know the words but can’t distinguish the choices, spend more of the session on the explanation.
Give reading and listening their own time
This routine is a vocabulary and grammar block. Rotate in reading and listening sessions or add longer blocks when you can. Use official practice material to check the question formats and practice under exam conditions as your test approaches.
Adjust the plan to your week
A busy week may support ten-minute blocks; another week may allow longer reading sessions. Budget the time you actually have and review whether your difficult skills are getting attention.
